In the Meadow. . .

. . . we probably could have built a snowman, but that would have required me to actually put my hands in the cold, wet, white stuff. I don't really do snow. I'd be fine with it if it wasn't so cold and wet. I'm just sayin'. It may have a lot to do with the fact that I never have the appropriate clothing to wear in the snow. Neither does Kingston, but that didn't seem to get him down. Cotton gloves, denim pants, shoes, not boots. Oh, well. We tried.

Kingston enjoyed the snow. In fact, he loves it so much that he still has to stick his hand in the few remaining piles on the porch on the way to the car, every single time. And then tells me that his hand is cold. Exactly, Bud. That is why I don't touch the stuff.

sNOw Time Like the Present

It's snowing. Again. Luckily this time it is not sticking again. The weather has been a mess recently and I can't tell you how ready I am for springtime. And outdoor play. Please, can we play outside soon? I need it. Bad.

So in honor of it snowing again, I thought I would post pictures of the first snow that I promised weeks ago.

Kingston liked to dive head first into the snow. Despite the unhappy look on his face in this picture, he was actually really pumped about it!

We played with the neighbors until Nigel accidentally hit one of them in the face with a snowball and we figured it was time to go inside!

Picnic, anyone? Notice the frosty wetsuit draped over the railing behind Kingston? Yes, that is Nigel's suit. He went surfing the day after this snow. He's nuts. I'm just saying. . .

Trying to find indoor activities in this weather has been a treat. Kingston has watched his share of TV and movies. I'm over it. We have played with Play-doh, choo-choo trains and balls. I thought it was time for something new. I let him play with water in the sink. I'm a genius! He had a blast!
Please disregard the drawer that lost it's front at least a year ago and has yet to be repaired. Please notice, however, the 2 cast iron skillets placed on the stool because Kingston is not yet heavy enough to weight the stool down so it won't slip. The stool was my Nana's and it is my favorite kitchen accessory. It cracks me up that you can find the same stool at Crate and Barrel now for a lot of money, and the one I use is at least 15 years old, probably older. I love my Kik-Step that slides on wheels around the kitchen but locks down so that it won't slip when you step on it. Great invention. Thanks, Nana! Eventually Kingston will weigh enough to lock it down. I don't have a problem with it. Thanks.

Another exciting thing Kingston and I did yesterday? I made cinnamon rolls for Grandpa's birthday and they called for cream cheese icing. Yum! My all time favorite icing. I introduced Kingston to the art of licking the beaters. He did a great job, considering he was a rookie. He didn't even mind that a little (or a lot) of it stayed on his face.

Good clean fun. Get it? Clean? Playing in the sink? Yeah. . .

So tonight Kingston and I are going to hang out with Nana while Grandpa (or Wo-wo as Kingston calls him) goes out partying with Da-da and Uncle Mark for his birthday. I'll keep Kingston hanging out with the girls for as long as I can. There will come a time in the not-too-distant future that I will have to beg my boy to hang out with me!!
Happy Birthday, Wo-wo!

Before It Melts

I'll post some snow pictures. I didn't get many because, honestly, I hate cold weather and I especially don't like to be wet and cold. My wardrobe is not conducive to snow.

Kingston checked out the snow from his vantage point on the couch.

And then checked it out with Dad.

Able liked the snow, too. Don't animals' feet get frozen walking on the snow?!

Kingston wore layers. And layers. And layers. I dressed him as if he were going to the arctic tundra!

See? We had a lot of snow.

Hanging in the yard with Dad, Pappy and Ms. Brandi. Didn't stay out there too long.

Snow was fun. Now I'm ready for it to melt already! I was supposed to go out with some girls last night but we cancelled due to weather. Bummer. We will be rescheduling. Snow, schmow.

Accident, Snow and Cute Knitted Hats

Accident:

Kingston had his first semi-major boo-boo this morning. And I mean major only because it left a mark! No blood, no foul, right? Kingston was cruising down the hall pushing Thomas (see previous post) and he somehow got the train turned perpendicular to the "track". He was attempting to either push it sideways, turn it over, or spin it around, I'm not sure which, when all of a sudden his feet slid out and his face hit the train somewhere. After a moment, and I do mean moment, of crying all was well again and there was only a few scrapes and bruises over his right eye.

See?

Owww! It hurt me more than it hurt him, I think.

Snow:

It snowed this morning for about an hour. It is November and it snowed. Great. It was pretty but it is only November. Snow? Can you tell I'm not thrilled? We took Kingston outside in the snow to try to get a picture for our Christmas card but things didn't exactly turn out so great. The deck was slick and wet and Kingston just wanted to sit down and/or crawl in it. Too cold for that and I didn't feel like changing his clothes again! So we got a few shots, but nothing Christmas card worthy.

See?

And did you notice Kingston's Cute Knitted Hat?:

I broke out the knitting needles and made a few hats. The first one I made according to the modifications of the ladies at the knitting store, Knitting Addiction, to make the hat fit Kingston. When I was done, Nigel tried it on, thinking it was his and it fit him perfectly. Oops. Too big. So I tried again and succeeded in making one to fit Kingston. Now Kingston and Dad have matching hats!

See?

Pretty darn cute hats and pretty darn cute hat wearers, I think.

What a day! And we still have more to go!
