STELLAN NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS!

Attention all blog readers! As you know, I am slightly terribly obsessed with MckMama and her family. And right now, Stellan is being airlifted to Boston for treatment on his poor, tired heart. He needs all of the prayers and thoughts you can offer him, as do his family and especially his doctors. Pray for wisdom, patience, healing, and peace.

As for us, Kingston is feeling fine if not a little, or a lot, overtired and not napping. I'm fine, if not a little, or a lot, lazy and not cleaning my dirty house. And Nigel is laid up in the bed with major lower back muscle spasms. He is in a ton of pain and is being a total pain like all men do when they have an injury or illness being a total trooper. Looks like thunder storms for this afternoon and it is hot as blazes. It will be a miracle if we survive this afternoon together in this house. Just kidding. We will survive.

And we would like for Stellan to survive so we will pass that mirale on to him. Get better, buddy! We're all praying!

Steak Dinner

We had Ribeyes on the grill (1/2 price at Harris Teeter-wooohooo!), asparagus and mashed potatoes for dinner. Yum!

That was the best part of our day. Well, that and the fact that I was pretty busy at work today and made good tips. I made enough to pay for Kingston to go to Ms. Cindy's tomorrow, too, and pay for part of next week.

Kingston had a pretty good day at daycare today. At least he had a good morning. He played, ate a snack, ate a good lunch, napped for 2 hours. Then he fell apart. He fussed for the rest of the afternoon. Ms. Cindy suggested I take him to the Dr. to get checked for an ear infection, just to rule it out. His eyes were droopy and he seemed sluggish, even though he had had a good nap. So I whisked him down to his doctor to get a quick peek in the ears. Too bad I got there at 4:45 and was informed that they closed at 5:00 and that I could bring him back at 8:30 tomorrow morning to be seen. Huh. Not a happy mama. I almost cried. And it takes a lot to make me cry. (Nurse Karen, if you are reading this, I looked for you but didn't see you back there! I think Kingston is fine. Please don't worry.)

On the way home Kingston seemed to perk up. He has been pretty good this evening and I am back to feeling like it is just the molars giving him heck. I bought some Baby Orajel to try tonight and I'm still going to pump him with Tylenol and see how he feels in the morning. Thanks for all of the suggestions, friends! I plan on getting some Popsicles and/or frozen fruit and some Motrin for future tooth/fever issues.

The bad news came when I checked my email a bit ago and had an update from my Core 4 friend, Mere. Remember Mere? She's the one who just had a sweet baby girl 2 short weeks ago. Well, Mere's husband just got laid off from his job as a lawyer that he has had all of 1 month. They had relocated their family less than a month before the new baby was born for this job. Mere left her favorite nursing job ever to make this move. They left good friends and moved into a rented house for this job. Thank goodness they didn't buy a house like they had originally planned to do. My heart goes out to Mere and her family as they try to put the pieces together and figure out what to do. I know everything will work out for them. It just makes me sick to think about how hard this must be for them. Please say a prayer for them.

So I will focus on the good. My steak dinner sure was delicious!

Stellan Trouble

Prayer request again. Should I just change this to a prayer chain or something? I thought we were just supposed to be talking about fun and holiday-like stuff this time of year.

MckMama has posted (well, a friend has posted for her since she is at the hospital with Stellan) that sweet little baby Stellan is either having a really really bad cold or is having those heart issues feared before he was born. His heart rate is doing funny things and he is having trouble breathing. Go check her out and get updates.

Man, I'm lucky to have a healthy little boy who is unpacking all of the new camping gear from the box that I just put it all in last night. I'm lucky to have a little boy who woke up muliple times last night for no apparent reason and would totally freak out if I left the room. I am so lucky to have a little boy who went with me to a baby shower yesterday and was the oldest boy there (by 4 months) and showed off for all of the ladies. I'm lucky he was dancing, signing "dog" at the right time, waving, reaching for other people to hold him and stealing snacks from the other little boy and eating everything in sight. He is happy and healthy and I'm very lucky. Well, blessed, really.

Pray for Stellan. I can't imagine having to go through that.

I'm Sorry I Judged

OK. Ever been in a parking lot or a store and seen a mom shove her kid into a cart or grouchily tell them not to touch anything all the while ignoring the sweet little innocent cute smiles the kid is throwing out? And have you ever thought "Oh, poor little kid. That mom is being so mean to that innocent little child." Yeah. I've done it.

And I've been that mom, too. Today. At Food Lion. And I will now say, do not judge that mom. You don't know what has been happening up until that moment that you see them. Maybe the cute little kid REFUSED TO TAKE AN AFTERNOON NAP FOR THE 3RD DAY IN A ROW! Maybe the kid was really sleepy and was all but asleep in the crib before becoming fully awake and SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER FOR NO APPARENT REASON! And maybe that mom had to get something for dinner and was planning to go to the grocery store WHILE THE BABY WAS NAPPING BUT THE NAP NEVER HAPPENED! Maybe. Just maybe. You never know.

Whew. I'm glad I got that off my chest.

On a very serious note, I need a few prayer, please. Remember my friend Kimmi and her little girl, Luna, who we hung out with in Wilmington this summer? Well, Kimmi's brother and his wife just had a baby, Josiah, and they have discovered that the baby has Cystic Fibrosis. They are expected to learn the severity of the disease in the next few hours. Kimmi texted me the news and promised to be in touch with updates as she learns them.

I feel very familiar with CF after following Nathan's blog as he taught us all so much about the disease. I sent the link to his blog to Kimmi and hope that she shares it with her brother. Oh, the power of blogs!! I hope this little baby receives the prayers she deserves through this blog post.
