The Great Pumpkin. Patch

Saturday was the perfect day to go to the pumpkin patch. So that's was Kingston, Nana and I did. The Grandy Greenhouse has hay rides and fun for kids of all ages and I had heard nothing but good things about it. I wasn't sure if Kingston would really be into it so I hadn't planned to go but since we had nothing better to do, we tried it out.

It was so fun!

We rode through the fields of cotton, through a path in the woods, over a few fairly big bumps and arrived at the pumpkin patch!

Kingston grabbed the first pumpkin he saw! We convinced him to check out a few more options before committing.

He eventually found just the right one!

Included in the hay ride/pumpkin patch experience was a free cup of frozen yogurt. Yum!

We also got to check out the big pumpkins, scarecrows and gourds.

Only one Time Out was threatened towards the end.

An apology was made, we got in the car and headed home.

We will definitely do the Grandy Greenhouse Hay Ride again next year! So fun.

No Pedicure, A Limo, Eden and Costa Rica

So I was supposed to go get a pedicure tonight with my Mommy and Me friends. I was really looking forward to it, and you would be, too, if you had taken a look at my nasty, cracked, dry heels and sadly free-of-polish nails. I was in desperate need. I've been trying to take every spare penny and put it toward paying off some bills (one of the few prerequisites for some other things we want to accomplish in the future) and I would like to toot my own horn and say that I have been doing a great job. My sad, sorry, fall wardrobe speaks volumes to the fact that I haven't been clothes shopping, that's for sure. But I was going to splurge and do the fancy pedicure. Until . . .

Kingston got sick. Again. Fever, lethargy, irritability, irritability, irritability. I had to take off work on Tuesday because he was not well enough to go to daycare. So not only did I miss making any money that day, I still had to pay Ms. Cindy her $40, so essentially I was in the hole at least $40 for the week. Sweet. That is approximately what I would spend on my fancy pedicure. So obviously you see why that wasn't happening.

Kingston is feeling much better now, thanks for asking. My feet are still disgusting, thanks for not holding it against me.

I was also saving a few dollars because I am going to celebrate one of my oldest friend's (in length of time, not age) birthday tomorrow night. Her birthday isn't until the 28th of October-which is one of a handful of birthdays that I will always remember-but she is celebrating this weekend. A bunch of girls are going to go to her house for a girls only party. Complete with a bartender and a personal chef! She lives about 20 minutes away and the girls that live at this end of the beach don't want to have to leave a car there overnight if we eat too much cake and can't drive home. One of my friends has a hookup with a limo driver so we are going to ride to and from Wanchese in a limo!

I am so excited! I haven't seen Brandy in quite some time so I am looking forward to hanging out with her. And eating cake.

Kingston is spending the night at Nana and Grandpa's house so that I can eat as much cake as I want to. Which will only be about 2 pieces. I'm a lightweight!

Happy 32nd Birthday, Brandy! Let's always be friends, 'kay?

My blogging and real-life friend, Eden, has officially moved "home"! I am so excited to have her and her sweet Little Miss around to play with any time we want. Well, not any time. I'm sure there are some times when she won't want to play with us, but you know what I mean.

Welcome home, Eden! We plan to bug you until you wish we'd lose your number. And your email. And your Twitter. And your Facebook. And your blog site. We're just persistent like that.

Guess where Kingston, Nigel and I are going on vacation in January?

Costa Rica.

From the Mouths of Babes

In the exam room at the Dr.'s office getting Kingston's ears checked. Yep. Infected.

Kingston: Out-siiieeed? (outside)

Mommy: No, Kingston. We have to wait for the doctor to come in.

Kingston: Out-siiieeed.

Mommy: Hey Sweetpea, want to read this book with me? We have to wait for the doctor.

Kingston: Out-siiieeed! (stomping feet)

Mommy: No, Buddy. We have to see what the doctor says.

Kingston: (Pointing finger and dancing side to side) No choo choo smo choo na bed! (No more monkeys jumping on the bed!)

Mommy: You are the smartest boy alive! I forgive you for being a huge pain in the . . . .

On the way to get our hair cut this morning.

Mommy: Kingston, look at the big cement truck in front of us. Can you say "cement truck?"

Kingston: Rrrroooooool cruck! (Roll truck)

Mommy: That's right! (giggle) It is rolling! It is mixing the cement. You are the smartest boy alive. I will forgive you in advance for being a huge pain while Mrs. Anna is trying to cut your hair.

Every day.

Kingston: (cry, cry, cry. stomp, stomp, stomp. fit, fit, fit.)

Mommy: Who are you and what have you done with my sweet boy? How are you so sweet and funny one minute and a total disaster the next? I'm calling Nana. Maybe she wants to play with you.

Fall Fun

What have we been up to in the past few weeks? Well. . .

It's been so long since we last posted picture, Kingston has grown a beard.

And appears to have had too much to drink. Just kidding. Just had to throw a bad picture in since all of the other ones of him are just way too stinkin' cute!

He has learned to floss. Or immitate Dad. Not sure the floss ever makes it between any of his teeth!

He has learned to stand on his head.

Without hands. Which also often results in a somersault. The boy is good! He can somersault on cue. I think he's advanced.

Kingston has eaten BBQ at an arts festival.

He went to a Pumpkin Fair with his buddy Riley.

And he picked out a darn good pumpkin.

Last, but certainly not least, Kingston played at the park. On the bug. Which he calls a bee. With his Nana. Whom he calls Nana.

We have all sorts of other fun things planned for the rest of the month. I'll keep you posted. Maybe. If you're lucky. Or if I'm not lazy. However you want to look at it.
