Catching Up

Are you ready for a bunch of pictures to make up for not posting for a whole week? Will that make everything right again?

I mean, what if I show you a picture of Kingston and me at the park? Kingston's not looking at the camera but I am. Sometimes it's about me. Most of the time it's about Kingston. Just this once it is about me. Thank you very much.

What if I show you a picture of my big boy going down the slide all by himself? Are you feeling me?

Or is it going to take this picture of the cutest boy on the planet (or at least at Hayman Park one day last week) to make you forgive me?

Apparently it is going to take a few really sweet pictures of Kingston at the beach to persuade you to continue reading my blog.

Will you promise not to turn Kingston and Pappy in for playing on the dune? I'm sure it wasn't legal but they both had a ton of fun! I'm really not asking for much here.

Now you know you couldn't possibly still be mad after all of that. And if you are, please look at this cute picture of Lee and Kingston. Kingston doesn't look so great but Lee does! She and her husband Chris are in town from Brooklyn for a few days. Kingston and I had a great time at her party on Monday night.

There now. Please forgive. But please don't forget. I will post another fun one again soon. Thank you, come again.

A Word of Advice. . .

Don't chase your 1 year old around the bathroom with the waistband of his pajama bottoms on your head with the striped legs hanging down like long ears. It doesn't go over so hot. Just take my word for it.

-----

Yet another big day for the Family Haynes. We went to the YMCA this morning and swam in the pool. (Yikes. A bathing suit? In January? Yeah. Yikes. Trust me.) Kingston had a great time. I have to admit that it is a bit tricky to change out of my dripping suit while attempting to make sure the crawling semi-naked baby didn't either crawl into the hallway or crawl into an unsuspecting Y-goer's bathroom or shower stall. More than once I nearly forgot that I was not entirely clothed while chasing Kingston through the locker room. Lucky for me, there's not too much going on in the locker room on a Saturday morning. That is, except for the 2 little 9 year old girls who asked me to help them with a number of things such as pinning the straps of their bathing suits so they wouldn't fall off (to which I heard them whisper "she was really nice" as they went around the corner!) and shutting their lockers tight and untying a knot in their bikini string.

This afternoon we went for a bike ride to the park. It was a bit chilly for a ride but we went for it anyway. Nana and Grandpa met us there for a quick visit on their way to K-Mart.

The boy loves to swing. Is this pure pleasure, or what?!

Climbing, sliding, etc. It was a good time.

Until. . .

Time to leave. 3 big things wrong here. 1. Nana and Grandpa were leaving. 2. K was forced to put on the dreaded helmet. 3. It was cold as all get-out. Kingston was pissed! He cried a good portion of the 5 minute ride home and dropped his pacifier twice. His face was a juicy mess what with the tears, snot and drool, and had to have been freezing by the time we got home. As I was getting his helmet off, my frozen, hard, too-long nails pinched his little neck and the crying started again. Oops. Good times.

Overall, we had another fun day. Man, I can't wait til the spring when the weather warms up and stays warm. That will insure easier bike rides and trips to the park.

Wagons, Swings and Hand-Me-Downs

What a fun family Sunday!

Kingston and I finally put together the Radio Flyer wagon that Grandpa gave him for Christmas. As you can see, Kingston was a big help.

Once it was deemed structurally sound, we went to Farmer2Fork and grabbed some lunch on the go. We headed to the Hayman Street park and had a picnic in the grass!! Or, more accuratly, on the fuzzy blanket that Grandma from our local Thai restaurant, The Thai Room (go figure), gave us for a baby present. (Don't ask. We aren't really sure, either!)

After stuffing our faces with yummy empanadas and a chicken burrito, we loaded Kingston up and Nigel took him for a ride in his wagon! What fun!

There was a pit stop at the swing and the rock climing wall,

and then it was back in the wagon. This time for a faster ride since he was on his stomach with no fear of toppling out the back!

Tonight, while Nigel and I ate dinner, Kingston sat in his new chair toy with his new table toy in front of him while he watched a Baby Einstein movie. Can you say, "overstimulated?"! The new toys were hand-me-downs from Curren Breiholz and Kingston loves them. Thanks, Elaine! We love recycled toys.

The whole day was a big hit. Good food, good wagon, good toys, good family time. Happy Sunday!
