The Suspense Will Kill You!

Kingston has a surprise he is working on that he let me in on this morning. We'll tell you what it is when the time is right. For now, just think about what it might be. . .

Why Buy Toys. . .

When you can have so much fun with things around the house?

I had already folded all of the laundry but I was willing to let it go if he was entertaining himself for a few minutes! He was so proud of himself. And what baby doesn't want to play with a spoon? That entertained him for a good 30 minutes! And please notice a different basket of laundry next to him. I could get another load done while he was playing with the spoon!

I'm so excited to know that it doesn't really take a bunch of flashy, noisy, electronic toys to entertain Kingston. I just need to look around the house for a few more "toys" to add to his mix. Save us some money, save us some space in the living room. Perfect.

I love these discoveries! Kingston is keeping it real!

Stealing a Blog Entry. . .

I made a fun new purchase today. I won't tell you exactly what it is but I will tell you that it is red, not pink. And it will hopefully take care of our hair issue. And I think Nigel will want to use it, too. It will look good in the corner when not in use.

I know you are totally in suspense, so I will refer you to my friend Eden's Blog to show you what it is.

Just picture it in red. It has to charge for 24 hours before you use it, but I did a quick sweep around the living room and loved it. Maybe my house won't be quite so hairy ALL the time (thanks, Able).

Thanks for the link, Eden. You did such a good job of endorsing it! Hope you are still enjoying your treasure!!!!

Splish Splash. . .

Kingston was taking a bath! In the big-boy tub! Tonight was the first night Kingston took a bath sitting up in the tub. He loved it. He played with his toys and splashed and enjoyed every minute of it. I never understood why people say to give a baby a bath to calm them down before bed time. Now I understand. He wore himself out in the tub! He should sleep like a rock tonight!

I never really looked forward to bath time before because it was pretty much just all business. Now bath time will be so much more fun. We are going to have to break out the bath toys!

And I'm going to have to scrub the tub more often now. . .yikes!

The First of Many

Kingston spent last night at Nana and Grandpa's house for the first time. It seems it was a huge success! I took the night out and used it to socialize with some friends and get some good sleep. Nigel, on the other hand, took the opportunity to drink too much (as if he can't do this even when Kingston is at home!!). At least we both got the good out of it!!

There will be many more sleepovers to come, I'm sure. I didn't even worry or get sad except for when I got home and his crib was empty and it was still empty when I got up this morning! A little strange but nothing I couldn't handle.

Yippee for leaving Kingston and bigger yippee for having him back!

Great Grandmama

Yesterday Kingston, Nana and I went to Franklin, VA to visit Great Grandmama King. It is always an interesting visit! This was only Kingston's 3rd time seeing G-mama and she was so excited to see him. She held him for a minute but then he got too wiggly for her.

She made Nana get out all of her Christmas toys that sing and dance when you push a button. You know, the scary ones from Hallmark that sing a song way too loud and wiggle? Yeah. Kingston liked the bunny that just hopped toward him. He sort of thought the frog singing jingle bells was pretty entertaining. The snowman was fine until he started tipping his hat and swinging snowflakes on a string around and around. That's when things got ugly!I did him a favor and dropped the camera and scooped him up before it got too bad! So the picture doesn't exactly show the end results!! I also don't have a picture of him eating the ice cream that she forced on us. She really wanted him to have some sugar free ice cream so I said it was OK. She really wanted to give him his own cone but I convinced her that he and I could just share a really small cup. So G-mama scooped a 1/2 of a disposable plastic cup (that she washes and uses over and over) of BUTTER PECAN ice cream for us. 1. He shouldn't really have much fake sugar and/or milk. 2. Pecans? uh, no nuts until much older, right? Oh, well. I couldn't turn it down now and she was watching as I fed him some. He certainly didn't get any more than about a 1/2 teaspoon of ice cream, total. I ate it all myself and just fed him mini bites just to appease the old lady!!

She only told me what to do with him a few times, which was a lot less than I expected! She told me that he was tired and that I needed to lay him on his stomach on the blanket and he would go right to sleep. Tried it. Didn't work. She also wanted to "tie him in that chair with that sheet so he has somewhere to sit." Ok. Didn't try that. Not even really sure what she meant. She also wants to buy him one of those jumping seats so that he will have somewhere to play when he comes to visit. Right. That would be a good way to spend her money.

We ended up having a really nice visit and made an old lady really really happy. She only had one small crying fit and said she was the last of her family alive and she doesn't know why the Good Lord keeps her here. I tried to convince her that it was so that she could teach Kingston some things but she really just wanted to have her pity party and didn't even respond to the suggestion! Typical.

Here is my parting question. Please refer to the picture above. Why do old ladies love to have Christmas decorations around the house all year round? Hmmmm.

My Baby is Cooler!!!

Or is in a cooler. However you want to look at it!

We had a fun day at Nana and Grandpa's-as you can probably tell.

Wednesday is my friend Nicole's birthday and Nigel and I plan to go to her house for a cook-out and then go out on the town. It will be Kingston's first night at Nana and Grandpa's overnight!! Should be a big night for us all!! I'll be in touch with the results of this experiment!!

Happy 4th of July!

We spent the afternoon in Portsmouth at a party at Nigel's aunt's house. Kingston got to see his great grandmother, Jeanie, and great grandfather, Papa. They were so excited to see him since they had only seen him once until today. Sweet Jeanie has Alzheimers, or however you spell that terrible disease. (It doesn't even deserve me looking it up, it is such a crappy disease!) She kept asking me what his name was and how old he was and who he belonged to. I mean, she asked me about 30 times. In 10 minutes. Papa gets really frustrated with her, and understandably so. He has the task of telling her every day what day it is over and over and over again and then he has to explain to her why the Christmas tree isn't up anymore.

Kingston is so blessed to have 4 great grandparents who love him to death-even if they don't all remember him!

We had fun at the party and got home right around 8-just in time for Kingston to take a quick bath and wash off the chlorine and sunscreen from his dip in the pool, get on his jammies and go to bed. He wiggled for a few minutes but then went to sleep. He had a big day full of lots of hugs and kisses.

Kingston's first 4th of July was a success. Maybe I'll get to watch the fireworks in a year or 2!
