I Have a Really Good Excuse!

I have a really good excuse for not posting for a while. I swear! Check this out. And before you watch, I apologize for the use of the word "menstruation" in the video. It's one of those words that I hate to say, much less hear, and this lady really defines why I feel that way. Ew.

So that was my doctor, and that was pretty much the exact description of my symptoms, surgery and recovery. It's been almost a week and I feel great! I LOVE Dr. Jack Inge! He is my new favorite big girl doctor! If I lived even just a little bit closer to Raleigh, he would definitely be my OB/GYN and he would deliver any future baby/babies (if there happen to be one/any). Don't get me wrong, my doctors here are great, but Dr. Inge is just amazing.

What was Kingston doing while Nigel and I were in Raleigh having a little surgical get-away? Good question. Luckily Nana is a persistent photographer.

Don't ask about the "yard ornament." Just don't ask. What is it? How did your mom and dad acquire it? Why do they still have it? I said don't ask. None of the answers are good ones. Believe me.

We were very lucky to have my mom and dad available to help take care of Kingston and me. Nigel was a very helpful nurse. My Core 4 friend, Mere, who really is a nurse, was so awesome while we were at Rex in Raleigh. She works there and was always right there when we needed her. My Core 4 friend, Lars, sent me chocolate covered strawberries in the hospital that I wasn't allowed to eat until the morning following my surgery. Can you say, torture?! My friends Pete and Brooke so kindly brought us dinner one night that was delicious and much needed!
We have some amazing people around us. It stinks that it takes something like a surgery to realize and appreciate them all. Thanks, friends! Your attention and gestures have not gone unnoticed.
I'm baaaa-aaaack!

Stellan Will Live!

Who is Stellan, you are wondering? Stellan is the unborn baby boy of McMama, who I am clearly obsessed with. I mean, I think I have posted more about My Charming Kids than I have about my own kid!! Anyway, read her blog to see who Stellan is, and will be, in less than a week. Pretty amazing story.

Remember when I won the caption contest on McMama's blog? Well, I got my prize in the mail yesterday. I am the proud new owner of 5 orange bracelets that say "Stellan Will Live" and "http://www.mycharmingkids.net/". I love the bracelets and now need to find 4 other friends to give one to. Let me know if you are dying for one and I'll think about sending it to you! I will be wearing my bracelet to the Harvest Heyday at the Elizabethan Gardens this afternoon. (Don't worry. I'll take pictures and report back!)

Kingston spent ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT with Nana and Grandpa yesterday. I had to work at Pig Stein all day and thought it would be the perfect opportunity for Kingston to practice spending the night away from home. According to Nana's report, everything went quite well. We will have to take advantage of this option more often, although I will admit to missing the little guy quite a bit. Nigel and I giggled in bed last night when we both said that the house was too quiet without him. I mean, the kid doesn't even make any noise at 11:25 at night, so why did we think it was extra quiet?!

Anyway, I'm glad to have him home and Nana must still be a big fan because she agreed to go to Harvest Heyday with us this afternoon! We just can't get enough of this kid!

The First of Many

Kingston spent last night at Nana and Grandpa's house for the first time. It seems it was a huge success! I took the night out and used it to socialize with some friends and get some good sleep. Nigel, on the other hand, took the opportunity to drink too much (as if he can't do this even when Kingston is at home!!). At least we both got the good out of it!!

There will be many more sleepovers to come, I'm sure. I didn't even worry or get sad except for when I got home and his crib was empty and it was still empty when I got up this morning! A little strange but nothing I couldn't handle.

Yippee for leaving Kingston and bigger yippee for having him back!

My Baby is Cooler!!!

Or is in a cooler. However you want to look at it!

We had a fun day at Nana and Grandpa's-as you can probably tell.

Wednesday is my friend Nicole's birthday and Nigel and I plan to go to her house for a cook-out and then go out on the town. It will be Kingston's first night at Nana and Grandpa's overnight!! Should be a big night for us all!! I'll be in touch with the results of this experiment!!

Hello Nana!

Nana is out of town AGAIN this week. Grandpa likes to rub in the fact that he has seen Kingston a few times since she has been gone. (Warning, Nana: we saw him at Winks today so get ready for the bragging!) So this blog is dedicated to out of town Nana-our newest reader.

I took some pictures yesterday and today so that Nana can see Kingston. The first one is Monster Butt in a new outfit that Sarah gave him. Check out that bum!

I put a Banana flavored puff in his mouth and he didn't quite know what to do with it. It cracked me up, though, because it looks like teeth! I sometimes call him Bubba and with a set of chops like this, it's a perfect name!

I took this last picture this morning because Kingston is wearing an outfit that Nana bought him last time she went out of town. Thanks, Nana! It looked too big but it isn't!

So, there, Nana. Kingston is missing you and can't wait to see you on Friday. When Grandpa brags that he saw him today, you can brag and say that you were the subject of Kingston's blog today!

A Long Day With Nana

I volunteered to work a concession for High Cotton today and tomorrow. Nana (Mom) is home this week for one of the 2 weeks she will be in town this summer and offered to watch Kingston. I gladly took her up on the offer and had my first totally full day without my sweet boy. I have actually been looking forward to this for a few days now. Every now and then it is nice to re-join the "real world" and have some time to yourself (well, to yourself and a few thousand other people at the Arts Festival!).

So the day was great. I sold hot dogs and hamburgers like it was going out of style! Kingston got to hang out with Nana all day and meet all of her friends. He loved it. I loved it. Nana loved it. We all had a good day.

I was so happy to see him when we all met for dinner at Rundown. He gave me the biggest smile and it made my day! Absence really does make the heart grow fonder! I love that little boy! He was a good boy at dinner, eating his sweet potatoes in the high chair like a big boy. After a long day with Nana he was totally pooped and fell right asleep when I put him down when we got home.

And we are both ready to do it all again tomorrow. Gotta love a good Nana.

Naked Baby

Today was really warm. Scratch that. It was hot. Let the summer begin! My new favorite thing. . . a naked baby. Well, not exactly naked, because he is wearing his diaper for obvious reasons. But Kingston wearing nothing but a diaper is a sight to see! He is the sweetest looking baby you have ever seen! He has these cute chubby thighs and marshmallow knees.

We went for a walk with Nana today and maybe got a little too much sun. Kingston's cheeks are pretty pink. It's time to invest in the baby sunscreen. I didn't really think about the sun being a factor on a walk around the neighborhood but now I know. I'm going to lather him up as best I can. You know, global warming and ozone and all that stuff.

When it starts to warm up the Haynes household usually tries to enjoy the fresh air in the house as much as possible. Nigel likes to leave the windows open until I can't stand it anymore. Well, that happened early this year, as I have already turned on the AC. I cannot stand the thought of my baby sweating to death because Dad wants to see how long we can go! When it reached 81 in our house at 7:30 tonight, I went around and closed the windows and turned on the AC.

I hope it's not too cool in here for a naked baby!
